The Blob was almost the “Glob.” This film is also notorious for Steve McQueen’s payday, he could either take $2500 or 10% of the films gross(most didn’t think it would draw) McQueen took the $2500 and The Blob grossed over 4 million dollars.
Sam’s name comes from the Sam Hain legend. Awesome little horror anthology headed up by Bryan Singer.
The cure in the past would have included drinking animal blood. Cutaneous Porphyria(Vampires Disease) isn’t something you’d want the afflicted also suffer from neurological complications, gastrointestinal problems, and enlargement of the spleen.
Candyman. The only thing protecting Tony Todd from the bees was a mouth guard so they wouldn’t go down his throat. The bees bred for this scene were 12 hours old so they would look like mature bees and there stingers wouldn’t do real damage.
Butterball and Chatterer had dialogue in the original script, but because of the make-up interfering with coherent speech the lines went to the female Cenobite and Pinhead.
It should also be noted Lovecraft ghost wrote a story called “Imprisoned with the Pharaohs” for Harry Houdini, who later commissioned Lovecraft to write a book debunking superstition (which was never finished due to Houdini’s death). Would’ve been an awesome piece.
Demon Knight was chosen as the producers felt it was more “comic-like” with monsters. The sequel ended up being Bordello of Blood which had a less than stellar box office. Dead Easy was supposed to a be a Louisiana voodoo zombie story, and went through constant changes. One of the main reasons it was abandoned was the producers messing with the casting which was supposed to be mainly African Americans but was re-casted. Demon Knight wasn’t supposed to be the first film and the “key” was featured in all three.
